“Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1)

Please plan to join us, this Sunday, April 26, 2009 after the 11:00 worship service as Session and
the Building Committee are hosting a round table discussion to talk about the new church design. We
hope you have planned to attend. Each table will be led by one Session and one Building Committee
member to discuss the process to which we arrived at the plan and design and to address any comments
you may have. Lunch will be catered by Bandana's, so you know the food will be excellent, so plan to
stay (if you have not made a reservation, please do so by calling the church office at 264-3906 or email at
firstpresboone@bellsouth.net no later than noon on Friday), eat, and share your excitement over this
blessing that God has bestowed upon our congregation. Childcare will be provided after the meal, so plan
to come and be part of history here at First Presbyterian Church.
In His Name,
Anna Lehman

Last Sunday evening Session endorsed and fully supported the Building Committee’s recommendation for a proposed facility through which we continue the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ. The Building Committee has invested hundreds of hours in prayer, meeting, travel, interview, and selection of an architect and a contractor. After five months of listening and drawing, the architectural firm of ADW from Charlotte has developed a plan for the congregation to review. The recently selected contractor from Hickory will now assist the architectural firm over the next couple of months with estimated costs, so when you look at the proposal, you will see what you asked for in the small group meetings. The estimated costs are yet to be developed.
Two meetings are scheduled for the congregation to come, hear the presentation, and ask questions. The first meeting will be Sunday, March 29 between the worship services (9:50 until 10:50). As usual, Fellowship Café will have breakfast ready, so come, have a cup of coffee, and participate in the presentation. The second meeting will be Wednesday, April 1 during Wednesday Night Live! Supper will be served from six to six-thirty. The same presentation will follow. Come to one or come to both.

Sunday evening the Session met and voted to accept the Building Committee’s unanimous and prayerful recommendation to select ADW Architects of Charlotte to design our new campus and facility on Deerfield Road. The committee will meet with John Watson AIA, Senior Partner and Stan Howell, Planning Specialist on October 1, to work out the schedule for working with the congregation to understand our needs. It has been so exciting to see God at work in this selection process. The members of the committee or "team" have been so blessed by being involved in what God is doing as we go through the steps necessary to build a new facility.
The current members of the FPC Building Team are:
