GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP: A monthly adult grief support group is being offered in Boone for people who have experienced the death of a loved one. The group is offered the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church located at 170 Councill Street. The group will explore typical reactions to loss, discuss the grieving process and review strategies for coping with grief and loss. This group is offered for free and preregistration is suggested. Stroke Support Group  - High Country Brainstormers: meets on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Rehabilitation Center (formerly Blue Ridge Physical Therapy), 232 Boone Heights Drive, Boone. New members are welcome, all ages. The free group is for stroke and head Injury survivors. Handicap parking is available. Caregiver Support Group: Are you currently a full- or part-time caregiver providing care for a loved one? Then the Caregiver Support Group invites you to join us for our caregiver support group, at 1 p.m the first and thrid Thursday of the month at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living, Boone. NAMI – National Alliance of Mental Illness: NAMI High Country supports those living with mental illness as well as their families and loved ones. We strive to increase public understanding of mental disorders and give hope to those experiencing them. Alcoholics Anonymous District 11: Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other, so that they may solve their common problem with alcohol, and help others to recover from the effects of alcohol.
