Dear Church Family,
A rich ruler once asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, and Jesus reminded him of some of the commandments. The man admitted he had followed them since he was a boy. Then Jesus said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.” (Luke 18:22) If Jesus said this to you, what would be the one thing that you lack? What gets in the way of you following him with all of your heart?
The Psalmist says, “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his holy temple.” God wants us to dwell, gaze, and seek him. God knows this is the most important thing we can do: trusting in his provision, seeking his will in our lives, and honoring him with all of our being. Over the next three Sundays we will be looking at three different Psalms to give us a centered perspective on what matters most. This includes having a proper foundation (Psalm 127), realizing that God knows us better than we know ourselves (Psalm 139), and seeking the one thing that matters most; living in response to God’s grace (Psalm 27).
As we reflect on God’s faithfulness, entrusting us with all that we have, I invite you to prayerfully consider how you can be faithful in participating in the wonderful privilege of giving of your resources to support the mission of God’s work in and through FPC Boone. Together we give as witnesses of God’s grace, using our collective resources to share God’s good news all over the world. Brothers and sisters in Christ, I challenge you to prayerfully consider how you can contribute to God’s work in 2017 in two specific ways:
- To make a commitment to serve God with your time, and talents, and
- To make a pledge to give of your financial resources, so that our operating budget may support the mission of the church.
Below is a printable 2017 pledge card. Prayerfully consider how God is leading you to respond for 2017, and bring the completed pledge card with you to our combined worship service on Sunday, October 23 at 10:30am. You may also make your pledge online using the Online Pledge button below. Let us acknowledge that God is the one thing that matters most to us, as we respond in our collective giving of our time, talents, and resources. May we do so joyfully together!
Grace and Peace,
