2020 Commitment

“A family of faith Called to Grow in the love of Christ, Share that Good News, and Serve the world.”

Dear Church Family,
Proverbs 3:9-10 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” We are called to put God first in our lives, at the center of everything we do. So it should be no surprise that God would also call us to put him first in our giving. We are to honor the Lord with all our wealth, giving the first of our crops. It’s so easy to talk about putting God first, but it can be much more difficult to practice, especially when it comes to our wealth. Yet the command to honor God with the first of our wealth is bound with a promise; to bless us if we do so. I suppose the real issue for all of us is trust. In scripture, we speak of this as faith (pistis in Greek). Do we trust God with our wealth? Do we trust God with our time? Do we trust God with our talents?
Over the next three Sundays we will be looking at three different passages in the book of Proverbs that have much to say to us regarding our giving, or lack thereof. These passages remind us of our collective call of living out our faith with our time, our talents, and our resources. You see, God blesses those who live out their call; those who trust him in everything. This has been evident at FPC in the past and I continue to pray that will be the case moving forward in the future!
As we reflect on God’s faithfulness and call in our lives, I invite you to prayerfully consider how you can honor the Lord by participating in the privilege of giving of your time, talent, and treasure to support the mission of God’s work in and through FPC Boone. Together, in our giving, we are led by the power of the Holy Spirit as witnesses of Christ’s grace, using our collective resources to share his good news in our community and all over the world. Brothers and sisters in Christ, I challenge you to prayerfully consider how you can contribute to God’s work in 2020 in two specific ways:

1. To make a commitment to serve God with your time, and talents
2. To make a pledge to give of your financial resources, so that our operating budget may support the mission of the church.

Below you will find a link for a printable version of the 2020 pledge card. Prayerfully consider how God is leading you to respond for 2020, and bring the completed pledge card with you to our combined worship service on Sunday, October 20 at 10:30am. Or, you may mail your card to FPC… 131 Big Valley St… Boone, NC 28607. You may also make your pledge online using the PLEDGE button below. May we continue to heed the words of the wise as we seek to live godly lives that honor the Lord in all that we do together!

Grace and Peace,
