Holy Week at First Presbyterian Church
Palm Sunday
Sunday, April 13, 10:30am
Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem starting Holy Week for the Christian Church. We begin by waving palm branches, shouting “Hosanna” (save us) as Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey. This is our joyous celebration declaring that Jesus is King and comes to set us free from our sin.
Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
Thursday, April 17, 7:00pm
Join us as we carry out the mandate of Jesus to carry on the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. This worship service follows the last night of Jesus’ time with his disciples, from the Last Supper to his betrayal, arrest, denial, and mockery. As we follow Jesus’ journey into
darkness, our worship service will begin to become dim until the Light of the world is arrested and taken from us, leaving us in darkness.
Good Friday Worship Service
Friday, April 18, 12:00pm
Join us for a time of reflection on the horrific events of Jesus’ crucifixion, as we read about Jesus’ death on the cross for us. This 30 minute worship service remembers the noon time crucifixion and allows for anyone who is able to take a lunch break from work to meditate, pray, and confess our need for Christ’s love and grace displayed on the cross.
Easter Sunday Worship Service
Sunday, April 20, 10:30am
Easter Celebration Brunch at 9:30am
Join us for a celebratory breakfast prior to worship at 9:30am in the multi-purpose room. We encourage you to bring a dish to share as we joyfully celebrate the good news of Easter together. Following our celebration, we will gather in the sanctuary for a service of worship at 10:30am in which we will worship the Risen Lord, praising God’s victory over sin and death. We will reclaim the cross together as a symbol of life
