Hebron USA (in Chiapas, Mexico) and First Presbyterian Lenten Mission Challenge
As you know, Lent is a season of sacrifice. Jesus gave his life for us on the cross and Lent is a 40-day journey of reflection that leads us to the cross and to the good news of the resurrection. This year we want to be intentional in the ways that we can give of ourselves and of our resources to care for the poor in Chiapas. We will discover tangible ways that we can all be involved: children, youth, and adults. We will also be challenged to pray that God would call at least ten adults to go on a mission trip to Chiapas this summer. In addition, we are challenging our church members to give sacrificially to help raise funds to support our missionaries, as well as to help fund our construction project.
Each week in worship we will have the opportunity to bring forward our offerings – money to support our ministry goals, and tangible items that we are collecting to send to Mexico with our mission team. This is a great opportunity for us to be challenged to share God’s love not just with words or speech but also with actions in truth. Please make every effort to join us this Sunday to hear firsthand how we can serve God and God’s people together!
Grace and Peace, Pastor Jeff
