Beyond 2020:
To help us claim ways God is already at work in our midst and to discern new ways God is calling us to “be” and “do” together, our church family is embarking on a brief but focused visioning process, called Beyond 2020. The goal of this process is to discern and articulate our understanding of God’s vision for FPC, establishing specific objectives that will guide us into the future that God is calling us.
The most important step of this journey includes having a significant number of people commit to participating in small Vision Groups of seven or eight people that will meet eight times during the fall. The first part of this communal dialogue is to reflect on, and give thanks for ways we see God at work in our midst and in the world around us. This will also enable us to get to know one another better, sharing glimpses of how God is at work through FPC, hearing God’s leading through one another’s ideas, and praying together for each other, our church, and God’s world. Together we will share our visions for the future, which will be shared with a team of members who will help synthesize everything that is communicated around every ministry area of our church. In doing so, we will develop a roadmap forward giving us a clear and united vision to participate in and expand the kingdom of God in our community and in the world.
We encourage you to sign up to be a part of a Vision Group. Ten groups will meet on Wednesday evenings during our Reach Wednesday programming and five groups will meet during the week to provide flexibility for those who cannot attend Wednesday gatherings. We will kick off this process with worship together on the morning of Saturday, September 8, followed by the first meeting of your small group. Vision groups will then meet weekly at their designated times and dates for the following seven weeks, wrapping up the small group process by the end of October. Childcare will be provided during your small group time for those who need it.
