Mark 1:1-15, February 19

February 19, MARK 1: 1-15
The book of Mark gets to the point: Jesus Christ is the Son of God with his coming foretold by Old Testament prophets. Jesus was introduced to the Jews by a divinely-promised messenger, John The Baptist.. Unfortunately, the Jews felt they were God’s “covenant people,” headed for heaven based on the status of who they were. John’s message to the Jews was that their “covenant people” status would not get them into heaven. The Jews had to come to God through repentance and faith in Jesus as their Messiah, just like the Gentiles. We have to be careful to know we are saved by our faith in Jesus and accepting him as our savior, not by being members of a church or other status.
