All ages are welcome to join us as we serve Christ through serving our community with our church family and friends on Saturday, August 9! 

Here’s what the Gathering to Serve day will look like:

8:00am… Meet at FPC for DEVOTIONS and communion

8:30—11:45am… PROJECTS

12:00pm… Meet at FPC for LUNCH

 
 
Gathering to Serve Projects 2025
 

Sign up below for the following projects…

  • CHILDREN’s MISSION PROJECT: Children will be making cards for shut-ins and packing birthday kits for food pantries. Children are also welcome to serve alongside their family members in the community on age appropriate projects.
    People needed: any number
    Age requirement: 5 years and up                                                                   
   LEADER: Erin Fowler
 
  • FMO PLAYGROUND MAINTENANCE: Help disassemble and remove old playground equipment at the church to make room for new equipment
    People Needed: Any number    
    Age Requirement: Adults, Youth             
    LEADER: John Newell     
 
  • FMO PAINTING: Paint 2 classrooms and Hallway in FMO
    People Needed: Any number    
    Age Requirement: Adults, Youth             
    LEADER: Sue Newell     
    
  • HEARTSONG: Youth & Adults will travel in the community to sing to shut-ins…
    People Needed: any number

  • HABITAT for HUMANITY: Work in building a home a lower income family. No Construction experience Necessary!
    People needed: 10 – 12
    Age Requirement: 18 years and older                 
   LEADER: Anna Lehman and Jon Burgess   
 
  • Hunger and Health Coalition: inside and outside cleaning, yard work and making pantry boxes.
   People Needed: 8-10
   Age Requirement: Adults, youth and children (with a parent)
   LEADERS: Frank and Jerri Mayberry
 
  • PREPARE and SERVE LUNCH for Volunteers
    People Needed: 2 – 4
    Age Requirement: Adults                                                                              
   LEADERS: Melissa Bahleda, Margaret Gregor
 
  • RAM’S RACK: • General cleaning, sorting and organizing at the store
   People Needed: 6 – 10
   Age Requirement: Adults, Youth, & Children (with parent)                            
   LEADER: Cheryl Anderson
 
  • TRAVIS’ LUNCHBOX/CASTING BREAD FOOD PANTRY: General cleaning, Organize shelves and storage, Restock pantry
   People needed:  10 – 12
   Age Requirement: Adults, Youth, & Children (with parent).                         
   LEADER: Shelley Dewey
 
  • WOOD LOT: Split wood that is stock-piled in a lot adjacent to the Hunger Coalition. Gloves, ear protection, snacks and drinks will be provided—some strenuous exercise involved. Wear old clothes—no open toed shoes. Orientation and safety demonstration provided. New participants will need to sign a liability release.
    People Needed: 6 – 15
    Age Requirement:  Adults & youth (if accompanied by parent)                   
   LEADER: Barry Elledge
 
Welcome families, direct traffic, pack book bags with school supplies, help with shoe distribution, serve as an interpreter and so much more!
***Age requirement:  Festival day volunteers must be 18 or older and not currently enrolled in Watauga County Schools.
